I was the Guest Designer at Apron Strings Monthly Kits again for August and below is what I came up with.

Cooper's Birthday layout from this year:

Our travels to the MS Gulf Coast to take Dennis to "The Shed" which he saw on that TV Show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. (or something like that)

This layout below (when we went to Six Flags for Lauren's birthday last year) was made with the Sketch for the month of August with a sketch from Becky at PageMaps.

...and last I made a layout from right before school started last year with photos that my mom took with her cell phone.

This page was one I made a while ago and was published in the Ezine for Ready Set Create online magazine.

...in the last few days trapped by temperatures nearing 100 degrees I have spent the late morning and early afternoons happily catching up on my scrapbooking. I have completed over 20 pages in the last week! that might be a record...but, many of them were simple pages for my Travel Album.

I still had to do our pictures from Spring Break to New Orleans to be all caught up on my Travel book so I finally got to use this fun travel themed kit that I got from Apron Strings a long time ago!! It was the Bigger-than-a-Breadbox kit from July 2009 and I have been wanting to use the cool map paper for a while.

I had some many pictures from the different places that we went that I decided to group the pictures into:

The Zoo

The Aquarium

The Insectarium

and therefore it is a "long layout" *I usually stick to a two-page layout for every event so this one is long for me*

This is the "cover" page. The Little Yellow Bicycle clear strip was attached so I cut the two circles up and moved them apart - then I used a red alpha letter "X" to mark the spot around New Orleans and used the picture I took as my Title.

Below are the two 'inside' Zoo pages....

And then more 'inside" aquarium. On this layout I used a page protector that has a 'swing out' side because I had just too many pictures for a one-page, but I didn't want to do another two-page layout. These fun page protectors make it easy to add a little more room. *the photo has a glare due to the page protector.

And then I went with a whole new color scheme since these pictures from the Insectarium were so colorful and fun and ended up using 4 different paper lines (scraps) to make up this page.

I love using sketches...it keeps me from having to think too hard. I usually use either a PageMaps or Pencil lines sketch when I want an easy start and today I found this one that was just right for this picture of Lauren I wanted to scrap.

I have had this beautiful Apron Strings kit from around early 2009 with this gorgeous flocked paper. The kit is mostly S.E.I and I have been wanting to use it for a long time! This picture with the gold french horn just seemed like the right reason to use this paper.

I added some metallic thread for sewing, some bling and word stickers and a little fabric tag that I cut out of some clothing at some point.

I have been taking quite a bit of leave time in July to stay home with the kids. Before Dennis and I went on our cruise I was finally able to get a few older sets of pictures scrapped from our WA adventures. I have a few album dedicated to just "the places we have been" and I try to keep these albums a bit more simple in their embellishment and design and focus on the place.

I also use those pocket pages that you can just slip pictures into for all the extra pictures. So, I pick out my few favorites that I can get on a two-page layout and all the rest of the pictures from that adventure go into photo pockets at the back of an album because I don't believe that every picture you take needs to be scrapbooked.

But, in the Museum page right below I actually added the extra pictures inside an old paperbag I had (saved from a paperbag book).

This is a little gift card holder/bookmark I made using a premade envelope in the kit.

And I was able to mix up the two kits below to make a page from what I had leftover.

I have had these two pictures for a long time!! I didn't really what I wanted to do with them so I finally just found a sketch to use and did them. When I saw this sketch these pictures came to mind because I knew this paper I was using had some birds on it. The birds didn't really fit, but I think the sketch worked well. I made this page for the Contest HERE.

More cloudy weather led to a good sheet washing day which led to another page being built! Yes, I used the verb 'built' because sometimes making a page feels that way. If you start with a good sketch it is the foundation for the rest of your page.

I used the Pencil Lines Sketch 242 for this page. I love these pictures of Cooper playing golf with his dad and was very happy to finally get them added to paper. The sketch is a one-page sketch, but I knew the sketch page would be great for the three smaller pictures of Cooper (and I knew that the Golf tag I bought was triangular so the sketch immediately had me thinking of it) so all I had to do is add another page making this sketch inspiration a two-pager!

So today I have been sitting home due to the rain, but it was a great day to not only play Monopoly with the kids, but to scrapbook!

I have had these pictures for so long now! We got them made the fall we moved here (2009). It felt great to finally get them on paper. As I type this I realize I haven't dated my page yet so I will be adding that date now.

Anyway, I like to visit Pencil Lines Sketch Blog for inspiration from time to time and this is my take on Sketch 241.

So, what is a June Journal?

Well, for all my scrapbook friends that have followed me through the past few years you might remember that I do a June Journal. I have been doing this since a challenge back in 2006 got me started. This will be my 6th year to do my June Journal.

So, what is a June Journal?

It can be anything YOU want it to be, but for me it is about documenting the everyday. The mundane and ordinary. It is about capturing real life and all that our fancy scrapbook pages do not see.

My scrapbooks for my June Journal are all the same size: 6 x 6, but you can make yours whatever size you would like. I also don't waste money and time sending off or printing fancy pictures. I just print my pictures on cardstock and love the effect.

Some things I do to make it easier on myself is:

1. I predate my pages in advance.

2. I also gather a handful of leftover pieces and parts from past kits and little things that are leftovers and keep them handy on my scrap table.

3. I also keep my camera with me during June to snap those pictures of the everyday.

4. Last, jot down things and times and places and keep receipts for that day so that when you get ready to work on your page you have all your notes. I know that I don't have the time to complete my page for each day on that day so keep good notes and pictures and do a handful at once.

Keep your eyes here and I will be posting pictures of my pages as I complete them.

Decoupaged BOX!

I decoupaged this cute little tea box for Taylor to put her spare change in. It was one of my projects featured over at Apron Strings blog.

Don't know how to decoupage?

Here are my tips: This is a tea box that I decoupaged with the patterned paper and made into a piggy bank for one of my girls.

Decoupage is really easy if you are patient and take the time to wait for the layers to dry. If you have never decoupaged anything before here is a quick how-to.

-First, make all your paper cuts as close to the size of the piece you are covering as you can.

-Next, if the piece that you are covering is glossy you might want to sand it with a piece of sandpaper to rough it up a bit.

-The third step is to cover your piece with the paper you are using. I only use Beacon FabriTac liquid adhesive as my base glue. I glue down all paper and wait for it to dry.

-After the piece is dry I use sandpaper to sand all edges of paper smooth and then ink if I want that look.

-Next, I wipe off any residue and use a decoupage medium or a glue like Elmer's and paint over it with a soft paint brush very lightly.

-Then I let this layer dry and repeat the decoupage.

If I am going to add anything like letters or other paper or a flat object (like the hearts I cut out of the paper) I will put these down before my decoupage, but if I am doing to use a bulky object (like the chipboard butterflies) or flowers and such I will put these down at the very end. For the chipboard butterflies I sprayed them first with the Maya Mist green (add-on for March) and let these dry very good. Then I used dimensional craft paint (mine is Ranger) and painted on the designs and let this dry.

Here is a simple, sweet layout I did the other day to go in the place of Sydnie's 9th Birthday layout. Shortly after taking all her birthday pictures and our Halloween pictures for 2009 my computer crashed and I lost those two sets of pictures. So, I did this layout with a note about what happened on her 9th birthday and why we didn't have pictures of that.

I was very behind on doing scrapbook pages for all the girls' albums. I had caught up with Cooper over the last few weekends (bad weather), but the girls were still behind and I really wanted to get all of their last summer camp pages complete - so, after taking them to school today I spent the whole day scrapbooking! I can't remember the last time I was able to spend the whole day on making pages, but the house was clean and I had nothing else to do.

I have also been trying very hard to not purchase any new items and use up what I currently have in my STASH so you might see some older lines and names below.

I am not going to share Lauren's Operation Purple Camp page (for possible publishing) but, Sydnie's page is below. (Lauren's follows very close in layout/design). Often times when I am using very similar pictures from the same event for each of my kids' albums I will design a page once and the duplicate for the other kids' books. (Since each of the kids has their own albums).

In the layout above I used Little Yellow Bicycle paper from the Delightful Collection (Pink Poppy and the green stripe), Doodlebug letters, Carolee's Tiny Etched letters, assorted flowers and a scrap of blue dotted paper that I do not recall the maker. On the paper flowers I basically layered three different scraps of patterned paper and then cut them like a pizza. Glue down a little "apart" and place button in the center. My buttons are some clay buttons from Jo Ann's.

The layout below is an example of how I tend to treat events that have a massive amount of pictures. I will do a single page "header" for the event (like above page) and then do a 2-page layout full of mostly pictures from that event. If the pictures are not important enough to make it on one of those three pages (from that event) they get tossed out.

It is very simple to make a grid (drawn your lines on 12 x 12 paper spaced 4 inches apart) and then cut your pictures (up to 18 of them) anywhere from 3 inches square to just under 4 inches square and grid them up! Then place a few embellishments around the corners or insides or even on top of the photos. I have been criticized for doing pages this way because you can't get my "stuff" on these pages, but for me the layout should be about the pictures so put your stuff on page 1 if you want.

Below are Taylor's extra pages for her Operation Purple Camp layout. You will notice on Taylor's that she didn't have as many extra pictures so I added some scrap pieces of paper from my stash in the squares. I do noticed from my pictures that the pages are in reverse order from the way they go in the album....so, the right page goes on the left.

So, since I had already done the work of designing that layout I duplicated my page design for Sydnie and Taylor. (below) I did reverse my page order on my original design because I liked it better switched around.

Sydnie's layout is made almost entirely from scraps. The orange flower paper is October Afternoon from the Go Fly a Kite collection, but all other paper came out of my scrap basket. The stars are appliques from Wrights/JoAnn's and the letters are assorted.

I decided at the last minute to not post Taylor's layout here...maybe for publication too.

Magistical Memories Sketch:

Again, I checked out a few of my favorite blogs and at Magistical Memories there is a fun sketch that was perfect for these pictures of Taylor. Since I used to be on the Design Team with Magistical Memories I have a LOT of leftover great chip to use so I played with some chip today as well.

This layout has paper from KI Memories Flourish *Delightful and *Colorful, Magistical Memories Marky Mark the Big Monster Chipboard, Creative Imaginations felt lime rings, Scenic Route scrap (the green circle), Letters and Quote are old school from Creative Memories, and a Prima Page Pebble (LOL)

PageMaps Blog Entry

I had some scrapbooking time today so I checked out a few of my favorite blogs and found a few cute sketch challenges/contest... one at PageMaps (Here)

This first page is for the PageMaps Blog Sketch contest. I took this fun picture of Lauren being goofy late last year. The paper is amazing! It is My Mind's Eye Life Stories and has the feeling of Kraft cardstock with some soft hues. I also added a Making Memories Glitter Bling frame, Prima flowers and pearls, and did my journaling with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen that has a nice sparkle.

I was cleaning up my computer files and found these two layouts that were pubbed last year in Ready Set Create so I think it has been long enough for me to share them here. The "All Boy" is one of my favorite layouts. I love using "found" things to make tags for Cooper's pages.

In the Creek layout I re-purposed a button from a sweater for the tree.

Day of Scrappin'!!

Since I started working I have had very little scrapbooking time and I can't remember the last time I was able to complete 5 layouts (6 pages) in one day!

I spent all day on Sunday at my scrap area getting some oldies (2009 and beginning of 2010) done in Cooper's album. There were a few sets of pictures that I had not done for him and his Christmas layout from 2009 was one of them.

It is a simple page, but it is done.

Anyone that has been on design teams knows how good it feels to just get some pages done because you want to do them and not for any deadlines and I had a great time getting scrappy for a change.

December Apron Strings Projects

Here are my December Apron Strings Design Projects.

I knew in January of 2010 that I would be designing for Lori at Apron Strings again and I knew that I would have the month of December, 2010 (this Christmas that just passed) so I held on to a few sets of Christmas pictures from December 2009. It felt good to finally get them done since it was already that time of year again.

I also was able to get Lauren's 13th birthday layout done. You can see in my example below (close up) that I sewed down a pocket. I do this quite often when I have too many pictures for one layout or if I want to hide private journaling. It is quite simple to do an involves just a straight stitch and an open side. I like to do this at the top of the page so that this area can be accessed without removing the page from the page protector.

Close up of chipboard bird: Just glue down the paper to the chipboard (I only use Fabritac glue for this - the Beacon brand and no other - to get a nice seal with no bubbles) and after this dries use some type of sandpaper or emery board to sand the edges smooth.

TIP: I often have too many pictures for one layout, but I want to have the pictures in the album. I typically only do a one-page or two-page layout per event and the rest of the pictures will either go in photo sleeves at the back of the album or I will do little envelopes like the one below attached to the page - either in the front or the back.

I finished working with the Bigger-than-a-Breadbox kits from Apron Strings on Saturday and they are so fabulous! They were packed with so much extra that I could not even use all the pieces so I have some leftover...and that is very unusual. And I found some extra cute stuff in the Side-Dishes at the store. September's Apron Strings Kit Designs

September's Apron Strings newsletter is out so I can now post my projects for this month. I am glad to have this one design team left because it forces me to get some pictures scrapped. I found these two layouts saved in my "waiting" folder.

This first one was based off a Pencil Lines sketch back from January. It is Lauren at the beginning and then the end of 5th Grade. I found these cute file folders in the $1 bin at JoAnn's and used one to hold my journaling. I sewed the row of pictures to the file folder BEFORE I glued the file folder to the page...and the journaling tucks right in.

This second layout was also made during January for a PageMaps Sketch challenge. I love Becky at PageMaps! The little robots were perfect for these pictures of Cooper in his robot pajamas!

My June Journal is Finally Complete!!

Anyone out there? Did any of you get this little project done? Don't forget to show me for a prize. I do have to say this was the hardest year for me to do this. It was also the first year I had to take notes about my day and pictures and do a bulk of the work later. But, I am all done for another year.

I got two pictures today for my album. Me and my Daddy. We had to get dressed up to go to a co-workers mom's funeral. We look alike, no?

And a sunflower just bloomed in my vegetable garden! and that is my daughter standing behind.

My picture for today is super boring. It is actually a beautiful road with bridges and trees and lots to see, but as I was finishing up my run tonight and it was getting ready to rain I realized that my whole day had been quite boring and I still didn't have a photo for today. This is the street just down the road from my house that I run on when I run at home. I run down to the firehouse and back which gives me almost exactly a two mile run. But, it is one of those little details that in time is lot because it is a "little thing" that we don't tend to scrap.

I have several ladies doing my June challenge and am super excited to see their creations.

Don't forget to scrap all about your day and all those little mundane things that seem ridiculous - what you eat, what you watch on tv, what you are reading, who you talked to on the phone, something funny your kid said, something nice your spouse did, how much money you spent on gas or at the grocery store. There is no limit to the fun facts and interesting tidbits you can gather for your June Journaling Challenge.

Halloween Projects and a RAK PRIZE Challenge

I had an awful thing happen that I already posted about once, but just so I can share my frustration again I will. My computer crashed in November just after Halloween and my daughter, Sydnie's birthday. So, I lost all those pictures - except, the ones that I had uploaded to my Facebook account. I was able to get them from Facebook to print, but because they had been sized down for Facebook my quality wasn't the best. But, at least I have something from Halloween. All of Sydnie's birthday was lost.

I really loved both the Smaller-than-a-Breadbox and Bigger-than-a-Breadbox kits from Apron Strings in October and created these very quick projects two weekends ago. I was limited on my scrapbooking time so I promised myself to do very quick - 30 minute - layouts and stuck to it!

**This is the Basic Grey Eerie collection. Note the tag and overlay go together. So, it is easy to write on the tag with regular ink and then add the overlay. The Trick or Treat tag is from Little Yellow Bicycle and all of this is part of the Apron Strings kit.

I was lucky enough a few years back to be published in this great sketch book and it just so happens that I have an extra copy. This book has 110 pages of fabulous page ideas! There are 67 sketches in this book that have sketches that range from 3 pictures to 18 pictures per layout! This is a great scrapbooking tool if you love two-page layouts - or even if you don't since you can lift just one side of each sketch.

The pages are all set up like this: Each set of pages has a sketch with 4 interpretations. The sketches are in order so that the book starts with 3 photo sketches and then 4, 5, etc all the way to 18 photos.

So, this valuable reference tool can be yours plus more great stuff! I have several scrapbooking supplies - some new and some leftover pieces and parts - that I am mailing with this book. I have many kits that are not used at all, but I just don't have the pictures for them. The prize will be a Flat Rate Priority Mail box full of great stuff!!

I made this page up yesterday using my FAVORITE color and some chipboard for the Magistical Memories January Challenge. I had a set of these great ZODIAC signs (Magistical Memories Chipboard) for everyone in the family so I thought I would finally use one for this goofy picture of my daughter.

The paper used is BoBunny Harvest Dot and some Basic Grey Boxer. I also pulled out some of my old Daisy D's rubons and these cute little pearl accents that I love! I think I need more of these. The funky black tag under the Zodiac is a hang-tag from my kids clothes.

Magistical Memories January Sketch Challenge

I finally had some time to do some serious scrapbookin' over the last few days. I have my stuff spread out all over! This is all I can share for right now and I did this using the January Sketch over at Magistical Memories. Go HERE to see the sketch and enter for a chance to win.

I just love all the itty bitty letters - they are one of my favorite scrappy products right now. Featured above is the Magistical Memories Fancy Frame and Single Music Note. I also matted two of the side pictures in a leftover Magistical chipboard page from a mini-album that I didn't use. You also can't tell, but this GCD Canta paper above is glittered! All the black has a beautiful layer of glitter and the yellow and blue are so very pretty.

A few changes this year.

Well, this year will be bringing some changes to my life. For one, I am going back to school for my Master's Degree. Second, I am going to be even more serious about my working out and running so that this year I can run at least a 5K - that is my goal anyway. So, with a full-time job and school starting and then my free time spent at the gym and a few precious hours at home each night before bed I have had to resign as a designer at Magistical Memories Chipboard. I LOVE the fabulous chipboard over at Magistical, but I just didn't have the time to dedicate myself as a designer 100% and do not want to give less. I still think ALL of you should go over there and check out all the fun stuff and new designs this year and I still plan on using my great chip in my time and posting my projects here. And there is a DESIGN TEAM CALL over there at Magistical going on RIGHT NOW!! So hop on over.

Another change is that Lori has "reprogrammed" our schedule over at Apron Strings kit club and therefore the Sous Chefs there will be doing a bit more designing than in the past. I have been a part of Apron Strings since 2005 and really do think they have a terrific kit club every month! I started to leave my position there as well, but then I decided that if I were to do that I might not do any scrapbooking at all this year so I stayed to keep up my scrappy inspiration. So, here is just a peek at part of the Bigger-than-a-Breadbox kit for January at Apron Strings:

Oh, here is a funny from an aging, tired woman whose brain doesn't apparently work before 9am or after 6pm: After completing the above, I was informed that our house number on Trout was "4353" and a few years before living there we lived at "727 Divot" LOL! It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

Here are two pages that I did early this year - like January or February - from our Christmas last year. I have been practicing a LOT of patience to wait until now to show them, but it is just really hard to share Christmas pages in July.

I thought this file folder I found was just perfect for adding extra pictures from Christmas Day. We take so many pictures that it can be hard to get them all on one page, but putting them into this file folder was a perfect solution!

For this page I used several inks and some stickles to dress-up my Christmas Magistical Memories Chipboard. The large tree covered in blue paper is part of a Chipboard Mini-Album that I decoupaged and used as the back-drop for my cluster.

Well, sadly my old faithful 4-year old laptop finally crashed. I say "faithful" in a very sarcastic tone as that computer gave me trouble from the start. Luckily, I had most, but not all, of my stuff backed up. I did lose my projects that had been photographed and saved so I had to re-take them which is why my Magistical Memories November uploads are very late. I also lost Sydnie's birthday pictures and our Halloween pictures, but it could have been way worse. So, if you are reading this and have not backed up your stuff lately just a friendly reminder that sometimes our computers are not our friends LOL!

Here are a few pages that I have done lately.

This first one is special because after a year my oldest daughter finally got her braces off. I had been wanting to use this skeleton applique on one of her layouts since she had so many skeleton clothes and finally had the chance. I used the Magistical Memories chipboard swirl page as a background for my journaling.

This second page features an adorable picture of my son and his best friend from WA and their farewell to each other before we moved. I absolutely LOVE this Magistical Memories Chipboard Rock Star border!

And last for right now is a page I did to preserve this moment from Taylor's birthday. Her father sent her a Jade pendant necklace from Hong Kong for her birthday since he was deployed and she just loved it! She was so surprised that he sent her something from so far that she loved so much! For this page I covered a big Magistical Memories chipboard Chunky heart with a piece of old denim that already had the bling butterfly on it. I also used a fun Magistical Memories piece of swirly acrylic.

September Doings at Magistical Memories.

This first journal is for Lauren...that girl loves journals! For the frame I took out the middle piece and decoupaged it with paper and lightly sanded the edges to make them white and then popped it back into the outer frame.

Products used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Filigree Frame, MME 29th Street Market paper, Making Memories WordFetti – I took apart the two pieces of chipboard: for the center I covered it with the reverse of my paper and then sanded the white edge: and for the outside frame I spray with Ranger Mist.

This layout below was inspired by September's monthly challenge to use 3 tags and a piece of acrylic OR chipboard. Easy, right? You could win a prize if you go here and link up your page.

Here are my first set of August projects for this month, but I do have more on the way.

This first page I could not wait to scrap! I love these pictures of my oldest daughter helping my little boy play on the computer. I wanted the layout to have a "technological" feel to it. Products used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Instant Frame, Cosmo Cricket paper and diecut sticker (Plugged In), Daisy D’s rubon (Sharing), BoBunny (Inspire), Making Memories Word Fetti stickers, Prima “Rock On” Chip Plates

This second layout was also fun to do! I love -as most of you know - doing two-pagers packed FULL of pictures!! I finally got around to doing this pictures from LAST year!! Products used:

And last - for now - I had this old, ugly wood cup that my husband had cut out with his lathe from an old fence board. The cup was functional, but not pretty so I - of course - altered it! **One of the things that I love about using these flip-open page protectors is that I can use a large embellishment like the star below in the center of my page since my page cuts are six inches from the edge. It keeps the center of my layout a 12 x 12 square.

"July starts out with a BANG, as we celebrate our Independence as a country on July 4. For this month's contest, create a project that includes the colors of red, white and blue (but not limited to those colors) and has a patriotic theme to it. Where did this year go? I spent the whole year so far without my husband, but he is back. Whew! Finally!

I am in the middle of a BIG move! Going from Washington to Mississippi and have had one very busy month!

Given that, I am not going to post a challenge here on my blog for July, but will post another one in August.

My June projects for Apron Strings Monthly Kit

I was the Sous Chef this month at Apron Strings monthly kit club and got to design with their Bigger than a Breadbox kit and here are a few projects from that.

I really enjoy the challenge of doing a design for them when it is my turn because I am limited to what is included in the kit - only - except for letter stickers and ink and any stamps I might have. It really forces me to not put so much on a page - which I am guilty of sometimes.

And - finally - Cooper's Christmas layout. This layout was done with a Page Maps sketch from Becky that is included in the Apron Strings kit each month. For this layout I did a tutorial on how to punch out the circle just right. You can find that tutorial right HERE.

There is an echo here on my blog. It is very quiet that's for sure.

So, it is almost that time for school to be out!! I love summer. I love being unscheduled and laid back. There are no deadlines, no homework, no running.

Here are the teacher's farewell gifts I put together.

This first one I made notecards from plain white scrap cardstock and embellished the tops with scrap patterned paper and made a Thank You card. (Apron Strings Design Team June project) The clip on top is a magnetic clip! (Creative Imaginations magnet clip)

I plan on adding my favorite recipes (typed) to these cards before I give them to the teacher.

For this next set I went the easy route by getting some premade boxes of Thank You cards. I thought these boxes were very elegant so I added the flowers. I included a handmade card with a Barnes & Noble gift certificate for each teacher. One of my girls has two teachers so I like to get the same gift for each.

And last I altered this tea can and wrapped up another store bought set of thank you notes. Gift card again will be included. Using your scrap paper for small gift wrap is a great economical way to package a small gift. (also an Apron Strings project for June)

A Few of My (Cooper's) Favorite Things

Last year I made Cooper a treasure box with a pirate theme and he just loved it! It was a wooden prima box about 8 inches square or so. Well, being a boy he had it destroyed in no time.

We went to the Goodwill store not too long ago and found this large wooden Bourbon box that was just the right size with just the right kind of top. He loved it! So, I bought it ($2) and told him I needed to make it "fancy" before I gave it to him.

And THEN! I saw what June's contest was at Magistical Memories *to use at least one old playing card on a project* and I knew what I was going to do with the box.

And here it is:

I am just now getting my Christmas pictures scrapped. I have been "saving" them because they are my last thing to scrap and then I am all caught up again with nothing to scrap unless I want to redo some old pages. So, I put it off and put it off.

So, the above layout is Sydnie's Christmas layout for her album. I love the Tulip applique that I have been saving. Products used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Love Book Page (mat for photo), Magistical Memories Chipboard Boxwood Christmas Trees, Prima Say-it-in-Crystal bling, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper, Fancy Pants paper and rub-ons, Applique is by Tulip, Recollections Rhinestone (silver beads).

Here is a close-up. I love love love these silver beads! They remind me of the silver sugar beads my mother used to put on cupcakes and cookies.

Project Share: It's my "Book" Book

I am not sure how many of you are readers, but I found that I was having a hard time keeping up with all the "series" books that I have read and when the new ones were being released so I created this "book" book.

This was such a fun project to create. I used a star punch and punched either 3, 4, or 5 stars on the side of the index cards. *This is hard to see in the picture. Then I sorted the books I have read into my own rating.

FIRST OF ALL CONGRATULATIONS TO Timi!! She won my May Challenge and will be getting a RAK from me!!

Secondly, it is time for my June Magistical Memories projects!

Next time you bring home those purchases from your shopping trip take a second look!! I have become slightly addicted to "hang tags" and find myself looking at the tags on clothes before I look at the article of clothing itself. LOL! I can't help it really - there are just so many cute hang tags out there made of the coolest stuff! I have found them in canvas, acrylic, chipboard, paper, fabric, and more.

In this layout I used this set of tags that looks like two coasters. They are really thick chipboard too!

I keep thick sturdy tags and cover them. Sometimes I just keep the very top of a tag for the illusion that the tag is peeking out from behind another element. I keep the tags just as they are sometimes for the words on them.

MORE Spring Pictures!!

So, I did Cooper's Spring picture for the Get Funky with Fabric contest (below) and here are the girls' pictures.

And don't forget my MAY CHALLENGE this month for a rak....use a "professional photo." I put this in quotes because some question how professional Lifetouch is. LOL! There is only one entry so far.

As I was doing this page for Lauren's album, I pulled out all the items I wanted to use and I laid my chipboard pieces on the Kraft cardstock and I just LOVED the way the plain chipboard looked with the Kraft cardstock. So, I did little in the way of embellishment. Plus, with this large, floral ribbon I didn't think the page needed much more.

Products: Magistical Memories Chipboard Swirly Tree Branch, Bird, and Whimsical Flowers, Floral Scroll Ribbon by Making Memories and Kraft paper.

Taylor is more my "girly-girl" so I wanted her page to bring out the top she was wearing and decided to use her favorite color as the background paper. I trimmed her picture into a circle and mounted it on this Magistical Memories Chipboard Circle Swirl Book page. Other products used from Apron Strings Monthly Kit: BoBunny Abbey Road paper, Creative Imaginations Felt word.

For Sydnie's page the pink and green in the picture was just too sweet not to use! Products used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Jeweled Frame inked with Brilliance Moonlight White pigment ink, S.E.I. Mimosa, Acrylic circle, Creative Imaginations gems, Creative Imaginations epoxy shape.

So, whew! There are my kids and their school pictures. Another year done! Now, get out your "professional" pictures and start scrappin!

PROLOGUE: Back in 2005 I discovered the world of online scrappin'! I discovered not only galleries and message boards, but stores and kit clubs! I was blown away at all the amazing things online since my scrapbooking experience had been limited to Creative Memories crops and big box stores like Michael's.

I decided that kit clubs were definitely for me! The idea that the postman would bring me a big box of goodies to my door and all I had to do was add pictures was too good to be true! May Challenge and Taylor: TEN

I have a fabulous Mother-In-Law. She is a really great lady and I am lucky to have her.

These pictures are from my second daughter Taylor's 10th birthday "photo shoot." My mother-in-law take my kids every 5 years to get "glam" shots. She has taken all of the at the age of 5 and is now working on their 10 year pictures. She hangs a big one in her house and gives me some of my favorites to scrap. I did this page as one of my May projects at Magistical Memories chipboard. Since she is wearing black and pink I knew I wanted to use those colors and dug deep in my paper stash for these two pieces.

I have discovered a new love for scrappin' my travel pictures. *I keep albums of all the places we visit and live to document our adventures.* Well, I used to really not like scrappin' the places we visit, but lately I have really come to love the "retelling of the story" through the pictures of the places we go. Looking at vacation/travel pictures reminds me not only of the fun we had, but of all the adventures we are sure to experience.

Don't be Crabby!

I was so excited when I finished this project last month that I just could barely wait until April 1st to share it!! I had all this cute "beachy" stuff and no beach pictures to use it on. I had used this Cosmo Cricket Snorkel paper on another layout and had just some scraps left, but one of the scraps was this crab or lobster or whatever it is...for my purposes I am calling him a crab. (Even though I guess he is a lobster, but ssshhhh). The best part of the creative process is the inspiration you get from everyday life....say 3 crazy-moody-crabby girls (but, ssshhhh...they are good most of the time).

Anyway, I had the idea to make them a "Don't be Crabby" Award. So, here it is. Now when I get some crabby attitude I just give them their Crabby Hall Pass and they get to march up to their room and hang this cute little creation on their door! I just love being a crafty mom!

But, they love it so much that hopefully as they take turns "winning" it their mood will improve.

Look close - that is paper BEHIND the acrylic PAGEFRAME door hanger. This is VERY thick acrylic and I was hesitant to sew through it, but I went very very slow and it worked. The Magistical Memories Seahorse and glitter are between the paper and door hanger and sewed together.

Products used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Seahorse, Cosmo Cricket Snorkel, Page Frames Acrylic door hanger, Adornit Carolee’s Creations Tiny Whoopsy Teal letters, and misc. ribbon. The shells are of unknown origin.

Here is a page I made for the contest. Even though I can't win I just had to do this page about my daughter and her love for her Heely's. She saved her money and bought them herself. She loves these shoes....or skates...whatever! LOL!

Brace Face!!

My somewhat hormonal, but mostly interesting 11 year old and her "new" braces that are not quite so new since she got them right before school started.

I love using chipboard book pages on my layouts. I very rarely make "mini" albums, but there are so many cute cute chipboard books. Instead of using them as they were intended (as books) take them or keep them apart and use them straight on your page.

This is a new item from Magistical Memories and is a page from the Magistical Memories Chipboard Circle Swirl Book. **I attach all my chipboard pieces with Beacon Fabritac liquid glue. It is super strong and dries fast, but not so fast I can turn something slightly if I need. And since it is not a scrappy product it is cheaper than scrappy glue.

I have also used Basic Grey Granola paper, K & Co Blue Awning Chipboard Swirl, K & Co Blue Awning Flower, Pink Paislee Letters (holly doodle cream).

Got Snow?

Are you still having some snow and cold weather where you live? We are getting slightly bit better here and no snow right now, but plenty of fun snow pictures left to scrap! I love scrappin' snow layouts probably more than anything I think. Maybe because I grew up in the South and snow was almost unheard of.

First of all, I have to say that the TITLE for this layout was taken from another page. I really wish I remembered who or where I saw this title so if it was you please let me know so I can give the proper credit.

For this layout I had SNOW much fun adding Stickles and bling to these Magistical Memories Chipboard snowflakes. I used Magistical Memories Chipboard A Winter’s Breeze and Solid Snowflakes, Fancy Pants Rubons, BoBunny Frost Dot, BoBunny Winter Whisper and Winter Whisper Plaid, Creative Impressions Felt Snow Flakes.

I used a circle of patterned paper right in the center of my large snowflake and then just kind of swirled the stickles around so you could still see some of the pattern.

My LAST Halloween layout!!

This layout is for Lauren's book. I had more pictures to use on her layout so it ended up being a two-pager.

So, I am now done with all my Halloween pictures. I am still trying to get done with my Christmas and Snow pictures. It seems weird to be posting Halloween when Spring is upon us, but I just love Halloween pages.

On the above layout I used: Magistical Memories Chipboard Spooks, Little Yellow Bicycle H’ween Words C-Thru diecut paper, Little Yellow Bicycle Frightful Flocked Spider Web, MME paper and diecuts.

As you see in the above layout I journaled ON the chipboard ghost.

Just Because Card

This card was made for the WeScrap newsletter that just went out. I used a sketch by Allison Cope and Magistical Memories Fancy Frame. All the paper came out of my scrap basket.

So, I am going to send this card to someone as a RAK with a bag full of goodies that I just put together. I was in a purging/dusting/re-organizing mood this past weekend and filled up a baggie of fun stuff.

This is a layout that I did for a challenge at WeScrap crop this past weekend. It started out as a Progressive Challenge (my first) where you are given one thing to do at a time. But, in the end I had to break the rules and use this gorgeous piece of Magistical Memories Chipboard. The G Cleft music note is just perfect for Sydnie's school music show layout. I will be working on another one using a music theme for my oldest daughter's orchestra performance. So, don't forget the music notes with those pictures you take at your child's school performances.

Here are some more Halloween layouts. I just finished my last Halloween layout (a two-pager for next month) so I can start on Christmas. I love scrappin' Halloween. Maybe it is the fact I can have more fun on the page or maybe it is the super colors, but I just love doing them!!

Two Love Birds

I love these cute little Magistical Memories Love Birds. I wasn't sure how I was going to use them, but then I got these fun pictures of me and Dennis in the snow. We had been out sledding in the snow and decided the tree in our backyard was a good place to take a picture together. So, Lauren took our picture and then Dennis decided I needed to go for a "tumble" in the snow.

I used the quote, "Life is a dance, and love is the music" as my title. I am not sure of the author of that quote.

My First Sketch

I "had" to make my first sketch for the WEScrap Newsletter since I am on that team. At first I was dreading it!! But, I really enjoyed making it and in the end was pleased with it. *Not sure why my outside lines don't show. I used a favorite layout of mine and then did the sketch. I know most do a sketch first and then make a layout, but I found the process went better for me the other way around. I am going to "play" at making some sketches based off some of my favorite pages and maybe post a new one each month.
